The project to repair the roadbed and surface and handle traffic safety (TS) points on National Highway 3 (QL3) through Bac Kan province is invested by the Department of Transport of Bac Kan province.
This is a group C project with a total investment of over 50 billion VND, starting construction at the end of 2023, with an implementation period of 2 years.
The project's goal is to upgrade infrastructure and eliminate a series of traffic black spots concentrated at the sections Km 129 + 428.7 - Km 131 + 171.9; Km 131 + 900 - Km 133 + 881.2; Km 135 + 723.2 - Km 140 + 500... to help ensure safety for people and vehicles.
On January 12, after more than a year of implementation, many traffic black spots on the above sections have been repaired and renovated. Roads have been widened, guardrails and warning signs have been installed.
At the construction site at the hard bridge in Cao Ky commune (Cho Moi), the construction unit urgently reinforced, repaired, spread stones, and built access roads.
In some other areas, workers are marking roads, constructing drainage ditches and some other ancillary items.
Mr. Nguyen Van Sang, a worker at the construction site, said that the section from Dong Tam town to Cao Ky commune has now been basically completed. Many narrow corners have been widened and the road surface has been paved with asphalt.
"We are marking the road and constructing the drainage system. The weather is dry at the end of the year so the work is going relatively smoothly," said Mr. Sang.
As a driver on the Bac Kan - Thai Nguyen route, Mr. Ha Trong Dong (Thai Nguyen City) shared that before the project was implemented, the roadway on National Highway 3 was quite narrow, with many sharp turns, causing the fear of collisions and accidents to always be present.
"In the past, every time I traveled on this section of Highway 3, even though I had been traveling for many years, I still couldn't help but feel worried. Especially when coming to a corner, the road is quite narrow, collisions here are not uncommon.
Now the road has been repaired, upgraded and expanded, making travel easier. We feel much more secure when passing through here than before," Mr. Dong added.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Leng Van Chien - Director of the Department of Transport of Bac Kan province said that up to now, the project to upgrade and repair National Highway 3 through the province has been basically completed, reaching over 80% of the workload.
"The road surface of the entire project will be completed before Tet. As for the hard bridge and other items, it is planned to be completed by mid-2025.
When the project is completed, it will help develop traffic infrastructure, eliminate a series of traffic safety hazards, and help ensure safety for people and vehicles," said the Department of Information leader.
