On December 31, Nha Trang City Police reported the results of handling the case of foreign tourists being solicited and illegally charged fees that occurred at the beach area of Tran Phu Street.
This is an incident in Nha Trang that has received great attention from the public and the press has had many articles since yesterday.
According to information from the police, on the evening of December 29, about 5 Chinese tourists came to the beach area at 78 Tran Phu Street and sat on 3 chairs placed on the beach.
About 15 minutes later, the group of guests were about to leave when a man named Phan Ngoc Hai (born in 1998, residing in Dien Tan commune, Dien Khanh district) came and asked to pay for the seat rental service at a price of 200,000 VND/person.
At Hai's request, the group of Chinese tourists refused to pay and left.
The police then invited Phan Ngoc Hai to the headquarters for questioning. There, Hai said he worked for Mr. Tran Thien Thao (born in 1975, residing in Nha Trang). Mr. Thao also rented the beach area at 78 Tran Phu Street to provide rental services for buoys, umbrellas, and lounge chairs.
The police quickly contacted Mr. Thao and he explained that he had previously rented the beach area at 78 Tran Phu Street from the Sailing Club restaurant. Up to now, the Sailing Club restaurant is holding all the contract documents.
To clarify further information in the case, the police are currently verifying the information of the Chinese group of guests and inviting Mr. Tran Thien Thao to the headquarters for questioning.
Tour guide accuses group of people of monopolizing beach, charging tourists
At the end of December 2024, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association received information from Khanh Hoa Tourist Guide Association reflecting on some subjects soliciting and illegally collecting fees from tourists.
When tourists were walking along the beach on Tran Phu Street, they were followed by some people who were collecting money. These people claimed that the beach area was under their management and demanded a fee of 200,000 VND/person.
Some tourists reacted and asked why there was a fee for walking on the beach. When the tourists refused to pay, a group of thugs surrounded them and followed them for nearly 1km.
Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association assessed that the behavior of the above group of subjects showed signs of violating the law, creating a bad image for Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism, affecting the insecurity and safety of international tourists.
