Regarding the incident of a group of people monopolizing Nha Trang beach to collect money from tourists, on the morning of December 31, Mr. Luu Thanh Nhan - Vice Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee, said - The Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee has directed the City Police to investigate the incident after receiving feedback from related units.
Previously, the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association received information from the Khanh Hoa Tourist Guide Association reflecting on some individuals soliciting and illegally collecting fees from tourists.
When tourists were walking along the beach on Tran Phu Street, they were followed by some people who were collecting money. These people claimed that the beach area was under their management and demanded a fee of 200,000 VND/person.
Some tourists reacted and asked why there was a fee for walking on the beach. When the tourists refused to pay, a group of thugs surrounded them and followed them for nearly 1km.
Some tourists recorded images of people demanding beach fees. These images were also sent to tour guides and shared on Chinese social media.
According to Mr. Pham Minh Nhut - Vice President of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, the incident involved about 4 tourists and their tour guide. This morning, there was feedback that tourists had sat on chairs on the beach, so a group of people came to collect money for the chairs.
However, if there is a fee for a seat, there should be a fee sign or a notice of a fee for the service. On the other hand, charging 200,000 VND/person is unreasonable.
Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association assessed that these behaviors and images destroy the efforts of the tourism community to build the image of Nha Trang city as beautiful, friendly, and hospitable, so measures need to be taken to prevent the above situation.
Previously, on December 24, two travel agency employees leading a group of Korean tourists to Dam Market for shopping were also assaulted by a group of vendors.
