On May 4, Da Nang City People's Committee held a ceremony to receive the First-class Military Service Order, the Third-class Fatherland Protection Order and announced the Decision on the Traditional Day of the Armed Forces of Da Nang City. This is a political event of special significance, right on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Armed Forces of the city, May 4, 1945 - May 4, 2026.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized: the 81-year journey of construction, combat and growth of the city's armed forces is associated with the glorious revolutionary struggle history of Quang Nam - Da Nang homeland.
From the birth of the Vu Hung Guerrilla Team on May 4, 1945, the first armed "fire spots" were nurtured and developed into the armed forces of Da Nang city today, carrying the tradition of "Loyalty, bravery, solidarity, creativity, determination to win".
Through two long-term resistance wars of the nation, the Quang Nam - Da Nang armed forces, together with the army and people of the whole country, have made many glorious feats of arms.
During the resistance war against France, the army and people of Quang Nam - Da Nang fought bravely, typically the Bo Bo victory in July 1954, which was likened to "Dien Bien Phu on the Central region".
In the anti-American resistance war, the Nui Thanh victory in 1965 became a bright symbol of the spirit of determination to fight and win, contributing to honoring the homeland tradition of "Loyalty, resilience, taking the lead in destroying the Americans".
Entering the period of building and protecting the Fatherland, the city's armed forces continue to promote their core role in performing local military and national defense tasks.
Proactively advising on building a people's national defense system associated with the people's security and people's border defense posture that is increasingly solid; maintaining strict combat readiness, promptly and effectively handling situations, contributing to maintaining political stability and social order and safety in the area.
Cadres and soldiers of the city's armed forces are also always present in difficult and key places, helping people prevent and combat natural disasters, search and rescue, overcome the consequences of storms and floods, participate in social security, build safe areas, contributing to consolidating a solid "people's heart formation".
At the ceremony, authorized by the President, Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of Military Region 5, awarded the First-class Military Service Order and the Third-class Fatherland Protection Order to the City Military Command of Da Nang; awarded the Third-class Fatherland Protection Order to Colonel Tran Huu Ich, Commander of the City Military Command.
On this occasion, the City Military Command announced the Decision on the Traditional Day of the City Armed Forces; received the Bronze Drum Symbol of the Party Committee, Command of Military Region 5 and the Banner of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city.
