Japan gives high priority to cooperation in high-tech fields with Vietnam

In the afternoon of May 2nd, at the National Assembly House, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae.

The two leaders expressed their pleasure at the good and substantial development of the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; highly appreciated the role and importance of cooperation between the National Assemblies of the two countries, and at the same time agreed to further strengthen political trust, promote exchanges and high-level delegation exchanges and between specialized committees of the National Assemblies of the two countries, as well as strengthen the activities and cooperation of the group of friendly parliamentarians of the two countries, young parliamentarians, and female parliamentarians.

Prime Minister Takaichi highly appreciated the role of the Friendship Parliamentary Group of the two countries, with Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung holding the position of Chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also announced that the 16th National Assembly of Vietnam will soon consolidate the Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Groups with countries, in which the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group always plays a very important role.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will continue to promote its supervisory role, promote commitments and cooperation agreements between the two countries, especially in the fields of economy, trade, and investment; expressed high appreciation for Japan's direct investment and ODA for Vietnam's socio-economic development; is ready to create a transparent and favorable legal environment for foreign investors, including Japanese businesses; proposed that the Japanese Government continue to support new generation ODA for Vietnam and create favorable conditions for Japanese businesses to implement large-scale investment projects, typical of Japanese technology in areas where Japan has strengths and Vietnam has needs.

Affirming that the two countries possess many complementary potentials and advantages, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that the two sides can promote deeper cooperation in the fields of technology, semiconductor and strategic supply chains, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, clean energy and digital transformation, biotechnology and smart infrastructure.

Emphasizing that Japan supports Vietnam's reforms and development goals, Prime Minister Takaichi affirmed that Japan wishes to accompany Vietnam in the new development stage; strengthen cooperation and exchange through the Party and National Assembly channels; will continue to support and cooperate with Vietnam to ensure economic security and energy security; give high priority to cooperation in high-tech fields with Vietnam in the coming time such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and space technology.

Prime Minister Takaichi also requested the Vietnamese National Assembly to support the early adoption of the Agreement between the two Governments on the development of Vietnam-Japan Universities and the Agreement on facilitating the implementation of non-refundable aid projects between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Japan.

Sharing about cooperation with Japan in Can Tho through the construction of Can Tho bridge, investment by Japanese businesses, cooperation in education and human resource development, the National Assembly Chairwoman wished to promote local cooperation, people of the two countries and cooperation between Can Tho city and Japan.
