On November 5, the Department of Transport of Quang Binh province said that the proposal of 2 locations for the North-South high-speed railway station is for ministries and branches to make an overall assessment, after which a final location will be selected.
Previously, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province sent a document to the Ministry of Planning and Investment regarding comments on the dossier explaining the pre-feasibility study report of the North-South high-speed railway project.
Regarding the location of the high-speed railway station through the province, according to the planning of Quang Binh province for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister and the approved general planning for Dong Hoi city, the section through Quang Binh province has 2 options for station locations.
Option 1 arranges the station in Ly Trach commune (Bo Trach district) and option 2 arranges the station in Nghia Ninh commune (Dong Hoi city). Each station location has its own advantages and disadvantages in terms of geographical location, terrain characteristics, conditions for developing connecting technical infrastructure systems, and potential for future development.
Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee requested the Ministry of Planning and Investment to pay attention and direct relevant units to choose one of the two terminal locations that is suitable for the investment scale and natural terrain conditions, potential and development orientation of Quang Binh province in general and Dong Hoi urban area in particular in the future. This helps ensure the feasibility of project investment and construction implementation and the effectiveness of long-term terminal operation (possibility of upgrading, expanding the terminal and developing the urban technical infrastructure system).
The Provincial People's Committee also requested the Ministry of Planning and Investment to have an environmental protection plan for the section passing through the protection corridor and the Vuc Tron reservoir, not polluting the water environment during construction and exploitation to ensure water supply for domestic, industrial and agricultural production.
Determining the route direction needs to focus on limiting impacts on the safety corridors of 500kV, 220kV, and 110kV power lines in the province.
Research and adjust the route through An Sinh Temple area (Le Thuy district) to the East to suit the socio-economic development orientation and local planning.
