HCMC - Thu Thiem Station, covering 17.2 hectares, located in An Phu ward, Thu Duc city, will be the terminus for the North-South high-speed railway.

According to the plan, Thu Thiem station was identified more than 10 years ago and will serve three major railway lines: the North-South high-speed railway, the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh railway and Metro line 2 phase 2 (Ben Thanh-Thu Thiem).

This station will become a vital traffic hub, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with neighboring provinces and other public transport.

Thu Thiem Station is located between two major roads, Mai Chi Tho Avenue and Luong Dinh Cua Street (An Phu Ward, Thu Duc City).

This is a prime location right at the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh highway and An Phu intersection - one of the important traffic points in the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City.

Not only has the advantage of transportation, Thu Thiem station area is also located next to Thu Thiem New Urban Area - one of the future modern urban areas of Ho Chi Minh City.

Surrounding the station are a series of large-scale projects, including high-rise apartment buildings and bustling urban complexes, contributing to the picture of comprehensive urban development.

Currently, the area reserved for Thu Thiem station is mostly clean land, fenced and fenced. Inside this area are vacant lots and swamps, waiting for construction.

The detailed planning of 1/500 of Thu Thiem station area will be chaired by the Ministry of Transport (MOT), in order to have a basis for planning management and unify the implementation of investment projects with Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the North-South high-speed railway through Ho Chi Minh City will run parallel to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway and will cross the An Phu intersection on Mai Chi Tho Street before turning into Thu Thiem station.

To ensure the feasibility and effectiveness of the project, the HCMC Department of Transport has recommended that the Ministry of Transport direct consulting units to carefully study the design options for elevated or ground-level railways. This will help optimize traffic connections at major and important intersections in HCMC.

At the same time, the HCMC Department of Transport also proposed that the Ministry of Transport focus on planning Thu Thiem station to become the central station for both the North-South high-speed railway and the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh route, ensuring synchronization with Metro Line No. 2 phase 2 (Ben Thanh-Thu Thiem).

Regarding the depot planning for the North-South high-speed railway, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport proposed that the Ministry of Transport request consultants to coordinate in clearly developing criteria for each depot location option (including the depot for the high-speed railway on the North-South axis planned in Long Truong ward, Thu Duc city).

Thu Thiem Station is not only the terminus of the North-South high-speed railway but also a passenger transit center, facilitating connections with public transport in the city.

With its strategic location and strong urban development potential, Thu Thiem station is expected to become one of the largest traffic hubs in Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to the sustainable development and modernization of the city's traffic system in the future.
