On the afternoon of May 3, the Office of the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense just had a report on the work of ensuring pontoon bridges, the situation of natural disasters, fires, and search and rescue work on May 3.
Regarding the work of ensuring pontoon bridges, during the day, the Ministry of National Defense mobilized 160 officers and soldiers and 90 vehicles of all kinds, maintaining the operation of Song Lo pontoon bridge, ensuring safety for 4,500 passengers and vehicles.
Regarding natural disasters, the report said that in the late afternoon and night of May 2, there were hailstorms accompanied by thunderstorms in the provinces of: Dien Bien, Phu Tho, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Lai Chau, Lao Cai (in Military Region: 1, 2), injuring: 6 people; causing roofs of 782 households and headquarters to be blown off, causing damage to 1,964 hectares of crops and forestry trees.
In which, in the communes of Thanh An, Nam Nen, Sam Mun (Dien Bien), the roofs of 45 households were blown off and 767 hectares of crops and forestry trees were damaged. The locality mobilized 82 people to help people overcome the consequences.
In the communes of Kim Boi, Thung Nai (Phu Tho), the roofs of 51 households were blown off and 42 hectares of crops were damaged. The locality mobilized 75 people to help people overcome the consequences.
In Chieng Khoong commune (Son La), the roofs of 3 households and 1 school were blown off. The locality mobilized 91 people to help people overcome the consequences.
In the communes of Son Thuy, Tan Thanh, Phu Luong (Tuyen Quang), roofs of 3 schools, 2 commune offices, 1 health station, 253 households were blown off and 903 hectares of crops were damaged. The locality mobilized 52 people to help people overcome the consequences.
In the communes of: Trung Hoi, Phu Thinh, Hop Thanh, Phu Lac, Yen Trach (Thai Nguyen), 6 people were injured, 3 schools had their roofs blown off, 1 cultural house, 1 health station, 2 livestock farms, 309 households and damaged 152 hectares of crops, 20 power poles collapsed. The Thai Nguyen Provincial Military Command mobilized 100 officers and soldiers, 157 militiamen and 7 cars of various types, coordinating with local forces to help people overcome the consequences.
In the communes of Tua Sin Chai, Dao San, Bum Nua, Pac Ta (Lai Chau), 19 households had their roofs blown off. The locality mobilized 190 people to help people overcome the consequences.
In the communes of Minh Luong, Nam Xe, Che Tao, Pung Luon (Lao Cai), the roofs of 88 households were blown off and damaged, and 100 hectares of crops were damaged. The locality mobilized 190 people to help people overcome the consequences.
Regarding search and rescue work, the report said that regarding the request to dispatch military aircraft to transport 2 patients being treated in emergency at Truong Sa Lon Island Clinic/Truong Sa Special Zone to Military Hospital 175/Ho Chi Minh City for emergency treatment, at 6:58 pm on May 2, an EC-225 aircraft of Corps 18 (number 8620) took off from Tan Son Nhat to Truong Sa to pick up the patient, at 02:37 am on May 3, landing safely at Military Hospital 175, transferring the patient to the hospital for emergency treatment in time.
