Just one hour after experiencing severe chest pain accompanied by shortness of breath, Mr. H.M. D (born in 1980, Ho Chi Minh City) was taken by his family to Hoan Hao Hospital for emergency treatment. After initial treatment, recognizing the critical condition, doctors quickly transferred the patient to Thu Duc General Hospital for in-depth intervention.
Immediately upon admission, the patient was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction in the first hour, accompanied by arrhythmia, a particularly dangerous condition, directly threatening life. The on-duty team immediately activated the intra-hospital red alert procedure, mobilized the Emergency Department, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Department and the Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department to coordinate emergency treatment.
The patient was quickly transferred to the coronary intervention room. The angiography results recorded complete obstruction (100%) of the section near the anterior interventricular artery (LAD), the coronary artery branch supplying about 50% of the blood to the heart. This is a severe lesion, with a large irrigation area, if not reconnected in time, it can lead to cardiac arrest, death or leave severe heart failure complications.
According to Dr. Nguyen Thai Anh, Interventional Cardiology Unit, Thu Duc General Hospital, the team urgently performed blood clot aspiration and placed a stent to restore coronary flow. The entire intervention process lasted about 30 minutes. Immediately after the coronary artery was restored, the patient's heart rate gradually stabilized, chest pain and shortness of breath decreased significantly.
This is a case of severe myocardial infarction. Timely intervention in the'golden time' is decisive, helping to save the patient's life and minimize later complications," said Dr. Thai Anh.
Currently, Mr. D.'s health has stabilized and is being continuously monitored and treated actively. Doctors recommend that the community not be subjective with symptoms such as chest pain and sudden shortness of breath. Going to a medical facility early can determine survival in critical situations such as myocardial infarction.
