Lao Cai - The meteorological agency warns that many areas in the area will continue to experience thunderstorms accompanied by the risk of tornadoes, lightning and hail.

On the morning of August 8, Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station said that through monitoring satellite images, lightning positioning data and weather radar at 8 am, convective cloud areas are developing strongly in the province, causing showers, locally heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms.

This phenomenon is happening in communes and wards such as Bao Ai, Nam Cuong, Thac Ba, Tran Yen, Van Phu, Yen Bai, Yen Binh, Yen Thanh. At the same time, convective clouds from Phu Tho province are also continuing to move towards Lao Cai.

According to forecasts, in the next 3 hours, convective cloud areas will continue to develop and expand, causing showers, with very heavy rain in some places accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong gusts of wind in the above areas, then spreading to many localities.

These are factors that can break and fall green trees, damage houses, affect traffic, infrastructure systems and pose potential safety risks for people.

The level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning and hail is determined at level 1.

Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station recommends that local authorities and people regularly monitor weather forecasts and warnings to proactively implement measures to prevent and limit damage caused by thunderstorms.
