Lao Cai diverts traffic on Provincial Road 161 after landslide

Lao Cai - Landslide at Km59+100 on Provincial Road 161, Bao Ha commune damaged the road surface, forcing functional agencies to divert traffic.

Due to the impact of prolonged rains from July 28 to August 7, at Km59+100 Provincial Road 161, belonging to Bao Ha commune, Lao Cai province, a negative taluy landslide occurred, damaging the entire road surface and posing a potential risk of traffic unsafety.

To ensure safety for people and vehicles, the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Construction announces the organization of temporary traffic diversion, prohibiting all vehicles and pedestrians from traveling through Km59+100 position on DT. 161.

During the road ban, vehicles traveling between DT. 161 and DT. 164 are guided to follow the route: Km59+100/DT. 161 - National Highway 279 - DT. 151C - DT. 163 - Trai Hut bridge - DT. 164 and vice versa.

The time to implement traffic diversion starts from 10:00 AM on August 7, 2026 until there is a new notice.

The Department of Construction requested the Traffic Police Department, Lao Cai Provincial Police to coordinate in guiding, regulating traffic and propagating for vehicle drivers to comply with the traffic diversion plan.

At the same time, the Lao Cai Road Maintenance Management Board is assigned to direct the route management unit to fully arrange a system of signs and reflective wires to warn of dangerous areas and assign forces to coordinate with functional units to ensure traffic on the route.
