Rainstorms accompanied by strong winds also limited the visibility of traffic participants, and many people had to stop their vehicles to shelter from the rain.
In the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop, causing showers and thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning in many areas of Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces and cities.
In Ho Chi Minh City, thunderstorms are likely to occur in wards and communes such as: Cau Ong Lanh, Phu Lam, Phu Dinh, Dien Hong, Binh Thoi, Binh Tri Dong, Phu Thanh, Phu My, Binh Khanh, Binh Chanh, Binh Hung, Tan Vinh Loc, Vinh Loc and surrounding areas.
In Dong Nai province, thunderstorms are likely to appear in communes and wards: Dai Phuoc, Phuoc An, Nhon Trach, Dinh Quan, Tan Phu, Long Ha, Phu Rieng, Phu Trung, Phuoc Long, Dak O.
After that, the thunderstorm area may expand to neighboring areas.
Common rainfall is 5-20mm, in some places over 30mm. During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17m/s); heavy rain may cause localized flooding.
The weather pattern causing thunderstorms is due to the intertropical convergence zone with its axis through the North, while the Southwest monsoon is active.
