Mr. Matsuo Tomoyuki - Chairman of the Japan - Vietnam Culinary Association said that buckwheat trees in the northern provinces are very valuable. Currently, the demand for importing raw buckwheat seeds from Vietnam to make Soba noodles in Japan is very high.
The Japan - Vietnam Food Association hopes to discuss and expand the planting of buckwheat trees with the northern provinces, including Tuyen Quang province, to increase export output.
Vice Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee Hoang Viet Phuong said that the climate and terrain conditions of some mountainous districts in the province such as Na Hang and Lam Binh are suitable for the growth and development characteristics of buckwheat trees.
Currently, in Tuyen Quang province, there has not been a habit of cultivating, harvesting, processing and using buckwheat seeds in addition to some households and cooperatives that have experimented with growing buckwheat trees on a small scale to serve visitors and tourists.
Mr. Hoang Viet Phuong suggested that the Japan - Vietnam Food Association continue to discuss and work with functional agencies and local authorities to connect and support the expansion of buckwheat production associated with tourism development in some mountainous communes of Na Hang and Lam Binh districts.
