On the evening of May 2nd, leaders of Sam Mun Commune People's Committee, Dien Bien province said that in the afternoon of May 2nd, a heavy rain, thunderstorm and hail caused damage to houses and agriculture in the villages: Na Hai, Na Lay, Pom Lot, Village 5 and Village 6.
Preliminary statistics show that natural disasters have damaged and blown off the roofs of 4 semi-permanent houses in Na Hai and Na Lay villages. About 27 hectares of rice in the harvest season of farmers were knocked down and seeds were removed. Of which, 17 hectares were heavily damaged (ratio from 50-70%).
The total value of property and crop damage is estimated at about 1.05 billion VND.

Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, the Civil Defense Command of Sam Mun commune quickly arrived in the localities, directly directing the work of overcoming the consequences according to the "4 on-the-spot" motto.
The commune militia force has coordinated with officers and soldiers of Tay Trang International Border Gate Border Guard Station to promptly grasp the damage situation in each household.
The units have urgently developed plans, mobilized human resources and prepared materials to support families whose roofs were blown off to repair their houses, determined to help people soon stabilize their lives.
