At 5:20 p.m. on March 2, 2025, a thunderstorm occurred in Nga My commune accompanied by hail for nearly 20 minutes. The phenomenon of hail as large as an adult's finger appeared on a large scale, causing local people to worry about damage to crops and houses.
In Canh village, heavy rain and hail fell, covering the land, streams and alleys of houses. Some corrugated iron roofed houses were hit by rocks falling, causing loud noises, forcing people to close their doors to avoid water and rocks from entering their houses. Similarly, Xop Kho village was also affected by hail and thunderstorms, causing many disruptions in daily life.
According to initial statistics, the thunderstorm and hail blew off the roofs of two houses. Some households in Na Ngan village lost power, the cause may be due to fallen forest trees affecting the power transmission line system in Xop Kho village.
The People's Committee of Nga My commune is reviewing, counting the damage and implementing measures to overcome the consequences of the hail.
This is the first time in 2025 that the locality has recorded hail.
