As Lao Dong newspaper reported, on the evening of May 2nd, ice rain with a grain size as large as a tennis ball occurred in Yen Son commune, Phu Tho province, causing many damages.
According to a quick report, as of 4:00 PM on May 3, 2026, the whole province had 376 houses affected, mainly roofs blown off, tiles broken... concentrated in the communes: Yen Son 356 houses, Kim Boi 15 houses, Cao Phong 3 houses, Hai Luu 2 houses.
Along with that, many areas of rice and crops in Yen Son, Phu Ninh, Dan Chu, Hoang An, Yen Lang communes... were knocked down and damaged due to thunderstorms.
In addition, natural disasters also blew away more than 150m2 of the roof of the cultural house in Dua Le village (Hai Luu commune); caused landslides of about 50m of the embankment of the road under construction in Dong Dong village (Yen Lang commune); knocked down about 80m of the fence of Thien Huong Pagoda (Phu Ninh commune). In Hien Quan commune, a large tree fell, damaging 2 cars and more than 30m2 of a factory.
Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, the Provincial Party Committee and Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee directed localities to urgently deploy response and overcome consequences according to the "4 on-the-spot" motto, ensuring timeliness and efficiency.
Local authorities quickly inspected the scene, mobilized forces to support people to clean up houses, overcome damage, and soon stabilize their lives.
