Recorded on Provincial Road 43, near the Go Dua overpass - the border area between Tam Binh ward and Binh Chieu ward, many houses were severely flooded.
In alley 789, many households were flooded, causing half of their houses to be flooded, causing severe damage to furniture and motorbikes, leaving their houses flooded up to the mirrors.

In the muddy water, people are busy moving their assets, vehicles, and even their dogs and cats to the Go Dua overpass area - a higher and temporarily dry place. Some people had to wade through water from early morning to save what could still be used.

According to people's reflection, from about 5 - 6 am, heavy rain began to fall, continuously causing water from Provincial Road 43, Le Thi Hoa Street and Go Dua overpass to flow into this low-lying residential area.
It is worth mentioning that the drainage system here cannot meet the demand, and is covered with garbage and mud, making the flooding even worse.
"This area has been flooded for many years, but it has become more severe recently. Every time there is heavy rain, people are miserable. We can only wait for the locality to put down the pump to pump water out" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, a household living in alley 789, Provincial Road 43, shared.

Information from the People's Committee of Thu Duc City said that the residential area in alley 789, Provincial Road 43 has an area of about 1.79 hectares, an average elevation of only 1.2 meters - significantly lower than neighboring roads such as branch road N6 at Go Dua intersection, Provincial Road 43 or residential area of Thu Duc agricultural product market. This low-lying terrain makes this place often become a "flooded area" when there is heavy rain.
The existing alley 789 has a width of 2.25m to 6.22m. The drainage system here has been invested in for a long time but is now seriously degraded. Along with that, the drainage ditches are interspersed in the area of silted up by sand and soil, no longer ensuring drainage capacity when it rains heavily.

The People's Committee of Thu Duc City has determined that this area is one of the key flooding points that need to be prioritized to handle in the flood reduction program in the period of 2021 - 2025. Thu Duc City has approved the investment report on the project of upgrading and renovating alley 789 provincial road 43, and assigned the Management Project Management Board of Thu Duc City as an investor. The project will include the installation of new drainage systems and upgrading the alley to increase the level, helping to prevent flooding more effectively.
However, Thu Duc City People's Committee is still in the process of balancing and allocating capital to soon implement the project. While waiting, people here still have to continue to struggle with heavy rains and flooding every time there is heavy rain.
