Lao Dong's records show that at around 5 p.m., on National Highway 50, through Binh Chanh District (HCMC), heavy rain caused flooding, many vehicles stalled and had to be pushed. Many vehicles traveling through this area had to turn around due to prolonged congestion.
Mr. Cao Thanh Hung (living in Binh Chanh district) shared: "The road is crowded with vehicles so there are often traffic jams. Heavy rain also causes flooding, making travel even more difficult. I waited for more than 15 minutes but still could not pass this area."
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, there are 6 main roads still flooded due to high tides, including: Huynh Tan Phat, Tran Xuan Soan (District 7), Le Van Luong, Dao Su Tich, Pham Huu Lau (Nha Be District) and National Highway 50 (Binh Chanh District). Each time the high tide reaches its peak, the flooding time can be from 30 to 120 minutes. In addition, many other roads are also susceptible to flooding due to heavy rains due to slow drainage systems.
It is forecasted that in the next 4 hours, the convective cloud area will continue to cause showers and thunderstorms in some areas of Long An, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc... with rain of about 30mm/hour possible. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
