On July 3, the water level of hydropower reservoirs across the country continued to fluctuate according to the developments of water sources, and many reservoirs in the North recorded increased water inflows.

According to updated data at 8:00 AM on July 3rd, the water level of large hydropower reservoirs across the country continued to increase after rain, especially in the Northern region. The water flow to Hoa Binh and Son La reservoirs both exceeded 2,500m3/s, but the reservoirs still operated safely and no flood discharge occurred through spillways.

In the Northern region, Hoa Binh reservoir recorded the largest water inflow to the reservoir in the country with 3,419m3/s, while the total water discharge through the plant reached 2,917m3/s. The reservoir water level is at an elevation of 101.92m, still about 15m lower than the normal water level.

Son La Lake has a water flow to the lake reaching 2,586m3/s and a total water discharge through the plant of 3,142m3/s. The lake water level reaches 194.8m, about 20m lower than the normal water level of 215m.

At Tuyen Quang reservoir, the water inflow to the reservoir reached 1,392m3/s. The reservoir is discharging a total of 1,222.24m3/s, of which discharging through the spillway 528m3/s and through the plant 694.24m3/s, maintaining 1 deep discharge gate. The reservoir water level reached 109.19m, about 11m lower than the normal water level.

Lai Chau Lake recorded water flow to the reservoir 1. 343m3/s, total water discharge through the plant 1. 164m3/s. Ban Chat Lake has a water level of 454.1m, water flow to the reservoir 150m3/s and total water discharge 187m3/s. Huoi Quang Lake has a water level of 368.67m, only about 1.3m lower than the normal water level, water flow to the reservoir reaches 206m3/s.

Thac Ba Lake has a water level of 50.73m, water inflow to the lake reaches 470m3/s and has not been discharged.

In the Central - Central Highlands region, most hydropower reservoirs continue to operate normally. Notably, Song Tranh 2 reservoir recorded water inflow increasing to 8,739m3/s but has not been discharged. Trung Son Lake has a water level of 158.47m, only about 1.5m away from the normal water level.

Some reservoirs on the Se San and Dong Nai river systems continue to generate electricity with high flow rates such as Se San 4 discharging 320m3/s, Srepok 3 discharging 280m3/s, Buon Kuop discharging 208.08m3/s and Dong Nai 4 discharging 112.78m3/s. An Khe Lake maintains 1 surface discharge gate with a flow rate of 4m3/s.

In the Southeast region, Tri An Lake has a water inflow rate of 400m3/s and a total discharge through the plant of 540m3/s. The lake water level is at an elevation of 52.28m, nearly 10m lower than the normal water level.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on July 3rd, the Northern region tonight and tomorrow will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with locally heavy rain. From tomorrow night, the Northeast region and Thanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with locally very heavy rain.

The Southern region has showers and thunderstorms in some places; in the afternoon and night there is moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain.
