The water level of large hydropower reservoirs in the Northern region continues to be stable, many reservoirs are near normal water levels, suitable for power generation operation and ensuring reservoir safety.
According to updates from Vietnam Electricity Group, as of 9 am on December 27, 2025, Hoa Binh reservoir recorded upstream water level at an altitude of 116.67m; water flow to the reservoir reached 121m3/s; total discharge through the plant is 684m3/s.
At Tuyen Quang reservoir, by 9 am on December 27, the upstream water level reached 119.88m; the water flow to the reservoir reached 162m3/s; the total discharge amount was 372.85m3/s.
Implementing the inter-reservoir operation process on the Red River basin, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant has closed 1 bottom discharge gate of Tuyen Quang hydropower reservoir, currently only maintaining power generation through units.
As of 9 am on December 27, Son La reservoir recorded upstream water level reaching 214.69m; water flow to the reservoir 103m3/s; total discharge through the plant is 586m3/s. Currently, the unit has closed all bottom discharge gates, only maintaining power generation through units to regulate downstream flow.
A similar situation occurred at Lai Chau reservoir, where the upstream water level reached 294.54m; water flow to the reservoir reached 495m3/s; total discharge volume 903m3/s. Currently, Lai Chau Hydropower has also closed all spillway and surface discharge gates, only operating power generation through units.
At Thac Ba reservoir, as of 9 am on December 27, the upstream water level reached 57.82m; the water flow to the reservoir reached 112m3/s; the total discharge through the plant was 0.
According to the latest weather forecast from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today, December 27, the Northern region and from Thanh Hoa to Hue City will be cold, especially the Northern mountainous region will be very cold, with severe cold in some places.
The lowest temperature in the North is commonly 11-14 degrees C, mountainous areas 8-10 degrees C, high mountainous areas in some places below 6 degrees C; the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City is commonly 15-18 degrees C.

The sea area east of the Northern East Sea area, including the sea area east of the Hoang Sa special zone, has strong Northeast winds at level 6-7, gusts at level 8-9, strong rough seas, waves 3-5 m high.
The Central East Sea area, the western sea area of the South East Sea (including the western part of the Truong Sa special zone) and the sea area from Dak Lak to Ca Mau have strong Northeast winds at level 6, sometimes level 7, gusts at level 8-9, rough seas, waves 3-5 m high.
Due to the influence of cold air, the high mountainous region of the North is likely to experience frost and frost.
