According to initial information, the accident occurred at about 7 am on the same day in Tang Linh village, Ban Mu commune (old) now Phinh Ho commune, Lao Cai province. A 29-seater passenger car carrying about 18 people was traveling when it suddenly lost its brakes and overturned.
Leaders of Phinh Ho commune said that functional forces are making efforts to rescue at the scene. Currently, 8 deaths have been recorded, many people have been seriously injured.
Through observation, the area where the accident occurred has a steep terrain. The police determined that the cause was possibly due to the car losing brakes and overturning the foot of the slope.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, said - immediately after receiving information about the incident, provincial leaders were directly present at the scene to direct rescue and relief forces and emergency care for injured people with the highest priority of limiting casualties.
Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee also directed local authorities to organize visits, encouragement, and timely support for families with deceased victims and injured people.
