On May 12, Khanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station said that a widespread hot sun is appearing throughout the province, in which mountainous areas and the south of the province have places with intense heat.
According to the news bulletin broadcast at 2:00 PM on the same day, the highest temperature recorded in many localities exceeded 35 degrees Celsius. Specifically, Khanh Trung Station measured 37.9 degrees Celsius, Ma Noi 37.5 degrees Celsius, Phuoc Thai 36.1 degrees Celsius and Van Binh 35 degrees Celsius. The lowest relative humidity is commonly from 35 - 45%.
The meteorological agency assessed that due to the influence of the southern edge of the low pressure trough connecting to the developed hot low pressure area to the west, hot sun will continue to be maintained in the province on May 13. Many areas have the highest temperature from 35 - 37 degrees C, some places may exceed 37 degrees C.
The time when temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius appear lasts from about 10 am to 4 pm daily. This widespread heat wave is forecast to last until around May 15 before gradually decreasing in intensity and scope of impact.
Khanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station warns that prolonged hot weather combined with low air humidity increases the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas due to increased electricity demand. At the same time, the risk of forest fires in the province is also high.
In addition, prolonged hot weather can directly affect people's health, especially dehydration, exhaustion or stroke due to heat shock when working or moving outdoors for a long time.
Specialized agencies also noted that the actual perceived outdoor temperature may be 2 - 4 degrees Celsius higher than the forecast temperature, especially in areas with strong heat-absorbing surfaces such as concrete or asphalt roads.
