The South continues to experience prolonged hot days, with temperatures in many places exceeding 35°C. It is forecasted that from now until April 2026, the heat will continue to increase intensity; high temperatures and prolonged heating will cause the demand for electricity, especially cooling equipment such as air conditioners, electric fans, water heaters, refrigerators... to increase sharply. Electricity bills of households will increase accordingly if there are no solutions to use electricity economically.

According to the Southern Power Corporation, to save electricity costs in the hot season, each individual and household needs to raise awareness and habits of using electricity economically and efficiently according to the principle of "right time - right place - right way - right need".
Specifically, in household electrical appliances, air conditioners usually consume the largest amount of electricity. Therefore, using air conditioners properly will significantly reduce monthly electricity bills.
According to experts' recommendations, people should set the air conditioner temperature from 26°C or higher and combine using fans to increase cooling efficiency. Too low a temperature not only causes the device to consume more electricity but also easily causes large temperature differences, affecting health. In addition, it is necessary to close the door of the room when using the air conditioner; clean and maintain the air conditioner periodically to ensure optimal operating efficiency.
With the refrigerator, you should limit opening the door too long or too many times a day; do not put hot food in the refrigerator; arrange food scientifically so that cold air flows well.
With an electric rice cooker, it should only be cooked 30-45 minutes before meals, regularly clean the heating tray, and use a quick cooking mode (if any) will help reduce electricity consumption effectively.
Replacing lights with LED bulbs is also an effective solution to significantly reduce electricity consumption in the home. For electronic devices such as TVs, computers, phone chargers..., it is necessary to remove the plug when not in use to avoid power consumption in standby mode.

At the same time, families should also allocate the time to use electrical appliances reasonably. On hot sunny days, electricity demand usually increases sharply at noon and in the evening. Therefore, it is advisable to limit the use of many high-capacity appliances at the same time, especially during peak hours. Equipment such as washing machines, irons, water heaters... should be used during off-peak hours to both save costs and contribute to reducing pressure on the power system.
In addition, households should use curtains and sunshades to reduce heat radiation directly into the house during hot sunny hours; take advantage of natural ventilation by opening windows in the evening or early morning. In parallel, if possible, you should arrange green trees around the house, balcony or terrace, creating a cool feeling for the living space...
EVNSPC recommends that customers using electricity in 8 southern provinces and cities should install the EVN Customer Service application, EVNSPC Customer Service to monitor daily electricity consumption to adjust the behavior of using electrical appliances reasonably, in order to reduce electricity bill costs incurred.
