On June 16, information from the People's Committee of Hieu Giang commune (Quang Tri province) confirmed that 2 consecutive forest fires had just occurred in the area. Fortunately, the fires were controlled and extinguished early by functional forces in coordination, so there was little damage.
Previously, in the afternoon of June 15, local people discovered a fire breaking out in the planted forest area of An My village. Immediately after receiving the information, Hieu Giang Commune People's Committee immediately mobilized forces from the Commune Military Command, Commune Police, Cam Lo Forest Protection Department and a large number of local people to quickly approach the scene to deploy firefighting measures.
Due to hot weather, the fire spread quickly, making rescue work difficult. By 4 pm on the same day, the fire was completely extinguished. Preliminary statistics show that the fire caused damage to about 8 hectares of cajeput forest from 4 to 5 years old.
Notably, just one day earlier, in the afternoon of June 14, another forest fire also appeared in the Cam Vu 2 village area. Functional forces of Hieu Giang commune, Cam Lo area forest rangers and people had to make efforts to put out the fire. This fire affected about 2 hectares of planted forest of people.
In parallel with fire fighting and overcoming consequences, the government of Hieu Giang Commune People's Committee is continuing to promote propaganda and mobilize people to raise awareness in forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting.
Faced with dry weather and prolonged intense heat, functional forces recommend that people absolutely do not arbitrarily burn vegetation, burn fields, treat waste or use fire sources near the edge of the forest.
