According to the Central Regional Hydrometeorological Agency, Da Nang and many neighboring areas are experiencing a widespread heat wave with high temperatures, while thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind appear abnormally, posing many risks to people's lives.
According to forecasts, in the next 24 to 48 hours, hot weather will continue to be maintained in the city. The highest temperature is commonly from 35-37 degrees C, some places exceed 37 degrees C. The relative lowest humidity fluctuates from 50-60%, the hot weather lasts from late morning to afternoon.
The areas of Hai Chau, Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, Cam Le, Hoa Khanh, Hoi An, Dien Ban and Dai Loc are forecast to maintain temperatures from 35-37 degrees C. In Tam Ky, Nui Thanh and Thang Binh, temperatures can reach 36-38 degrees C. Hot weather is expected to continue in the coming days with disaster risk level due to hot weather at level 1.
The meteorological agency warns of the risk of fires and explosions in crowded residential areas, industrial parks and the increasing risk of forest fires due to prolonged high temperatures combined with low humidity. People working outdoors for a long time may face dehydration, exhaustion or heat shock.
Notably, in the context of intense heat, localized thunderstorms have reappeared in many mountainous areas. Through monitoring weather radar and satellite cloud images, strong convective cloud masses have caused showers and thunderstorms in many communes and wards in mountainous and coastal areas.
In Tra My commune, a thunderstorm occurred amidst intense sunshine, causing significant damage. Strong winds swept through Dong Truong, Trung Thi and Mau Ca villages, causing many houses to have their roofs blown off, auxiliary works damaged, and trees to fall. Initial statistics recorded 16 affected cases, including many households having their roofs completely blown off, and one temporary house collapsed.
The meteorological sector continues to warn of the possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, localized heavy rain of about 30mm/hour and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. People need to closely monitor weather forecasts, proactively take preventive measures to limit damage to people and property.
