The investment project to build a bridge over the Day River connecting the two provinces of Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh (Day River bridge) is located at about Km18+116 on the Ninh Binh - Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong expressway.
The bridge is designed to be approximately 1.36km long; the bridge cross-section is 19.5m; ensuring 4 lanes for motor vehicles, without an emergency lane. The approach road is approximately 0.64km long; the road width is 19m. The project has a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND.
Branch line, connecting intersection, Ninh Binh side main line (bridge) overpass with Kim Son - Bai Dinh road (DT476) at about Km17+821/highway (about Km50+063/right dike Day). Build two temporary branches on both sides of the connecting highway, intersecting with Kim Son - Bai Dinh road.
In Nam Dinh, the main route (bridge) will intersect with Highway 37B at about Km79+600/QL37B and the Nam Dinh provincial development axis (DT490) at about Km18+707/highway (about Km17+211/DT490), ensuring clearance according to regulations. The project will build two branches on both sides of the highway connecting and intersecting with Highway 490 at about Km17+123 and Km17+385/DT490, respectively.
After 1 year of construction, the Day River overpass has now completed about 85% of its workload. Mr. Pham Van The - Deputy Commander of the Day River overpass project said: "The most difficult phase of the project is the construction of two underwater piers T12 and T13 because the water depth is very deep, up to about 10m. Up to now, nearly 250 workers are rushing to ensure progress, the bridge is expected to be closed on December 5th".
The Day River Overpass, when put into operation, aims to connect important traffic routes of Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces, gradually completing the Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway, enhancing regional and inter-regional connectivity in the Red River Delta. In addition, it will reduce the load on the existing traffic system, shorten the distance and travel time for traffic participants, and create momentum for socio-economic development.
