On May 23, information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that provincial leaders have directed relevant localities to focus on site clearance to serve the construction of the Ban Mong Reservoir Project, removing difficulties to accelerate the project progress.
According to updated data, the total capital allocated for the project is 2,909.53 billion VND, of which 2,519.75 billion VND has been disbursed, reaching 86.6%. Key items are being accelerated, specifically: Chau Binh drainage canal reaching 25% of the contract value; people's roads in the lake reaching 56%; Khe Ba bridge reaching 40%; Ke Ninh bridge reaching 61%; Ban Le 3 culvert and road No. 5 reaching 78%.

However, site clearance work in Chau Binh and Quy Chau communes has not been completed because some households continue to petition for additional support policies. The relocation of power lines at Khe Ba bridge and Ke Ninh bridge is still slow, many production roads in the lake are flooded but there are no replacement roads.
Faced with the above reality, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested units and localities to focus manpower and resources, and take advantage of favorable weather to accelerate progress.
Specifically, the Chau Binh drainage canal must be completed before August 15, 2026; Ke Khoang cemetery and resettlement area after auxiliary dam 1 must be completed before June 30, 2026; urgently draw lots to arrange people to resettle at slope 77; production areas must be completed in 2026. Regarding the Ke Ninh reservoir repair and upgrade project, Mr. De assigned the investor to coordinate in reviewing capital sources and removing obstacles to accelerate progress.
The Ban Mong Reservoir Project is a key national irrigation project, approved for investment in 2009, started in 2010. The project is invested by the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 4 (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) as the investor of the key construction cluster component; Nghe An province is assigned to implement the compensation, support, resettlement component and build a pumping station system. With a total investment of more than 5,552 billion VND, the project has the task of supplying irrigation water to nearly 19,000 hectares of agricultural land, supplying domestic and industrial water, flood regulation, combined with power generation with a capacity of 45MW. It is expected that the entire project will be completed and handed over for use in the first quarter of 2029.
