On May 5, according to a quick report from the Civil Defense Command of Nghe An province, from the evening of May 3 to the early morning of May 4, storms, tornadoes, and hailstorms occurred in many communes, causing great damage to agricultural and forestry production and people's property.
Initial statistics show that 953 houses were damaged and had their roofs blown off at various levels. Among them, 1 house was damaged over 70%, 20 houses were damaged from 50–70%, 9 houses were damaged from 30–50%, 149 houses were damaged under 30% and 765 houses had their roofs blown off, the specific extent of damage has not been determined.

In addition, 9 houses had their cooling racks blown off, concentrated in communes such as Muong Ham and Thong Thu.
Regarding agricultural production, the total area of rice damaged is up to 6,671.23 ha. Of which, the area damaged over 70% is 2,034.27 ha; damage from 30–70% is 4,455.05 ha; the remaining 181.91 ha is damaged under 30%.
In addition, 827.23 hectares of corn and sesame were affected, of which more than 300 hectares were damaged by over 70%. The area of vegetables and crops damaged was about 62 hectares, many areas were crushed and heavily damaged.
For forestry trees, about 275 hectares of acacia are affected, along with 150,000 acacia seedlings damaged. Some areas of fruit trees are also affected at a rate of 30–70%.

Storms and tornadoes also caused significant damage to livestock and infrastructure. 345 livestock and auxiliary facilities were damaged; 1 pig farm had its roof damaged; many barns had their roofs blown off and damaged. Natural disasters killed 1 cattle and 64 poultry.
Regarding traffic, some works were affected such as Cay Mit bridge (Thanh Binh Tho commune) being about 30 cm off the abutment; inter-field roads in Muong Ham commune being eroded about 200 m; Huoi Muong bridge (Tien Phong commune) being eroded and subsided at two bridge abutments.
The irrigation system also recorded many damages, including 50 m of flood-resistant embankment broken in Muong Ham commune, 7 m of whitewall damaged in Mau Thach commune and 10 m of ditch eroded in Bich Hao commune.
In the fields of education and health, 9 schools and 4 health stations had damaged corrugated iron roofs, windows, and electrical equipment. Some cultural houses, production facilities, and civil works were also affected.
Notably, the honey tank of Song Lam Sugar Joint Stock Company was struck by lightning, causing about 2,000 tons of honey to spill out. In addition, dozens of power poles, broadcasting systems, solar energy equipment and many other works were also damaged.
Currently, localities are continuing to review and statistically assess damage, and at the same time implement remedial measures to support people to stabilize production and life.
