On April 2nd, information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that the socio-economic situation in the first quarter of 2026 was basically stable with many positive indicators. Total state budget revenue reached 8.493 billion VND, equal to 36.4% of the estimate and an increase of 34.6% compared to the same period in 2025.
In which, domestic revenue reached VND 7,657 billion (up 28.6%), of which revenue from import and export activities increased sharply by 153.2% compared to the same period, reaching VND 743 billion. Total local budget expenditure in the first quarter reached VND 11,587 billion, reaching 22.4% of the estimate; development investment expenditure alone reached VND 4,477 billion.
GRDP growth rate in Q1/2026 is estimated at 8.15%. The industrial and construction sector increased sharply by 10.26% (excluding industry increased by 12.47%), services increased by 8.75%, agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 4.14%. The Industrial Production Index (IIP) increased by 16.37%; the export turnover of goods reached 1,261.9 million USD, an increase of 51.01%.
In particular, the province has approved the investment policy for the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant project with a total capital of 59.372 billion VND - the largest project ever in the area. The total newly granted and additional investment capital in the quarter reached nearly 65,000 billion VND.
Regarding elections, Nghe An has 16 National Assembly deputies of the 16th term elected; voter turnout reached 99.86% - the highest in recent terms.
