On the afternoon of November 15, Mr. Doan Van Liet - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Ninh Commune, Tan Thanh District, Long An Province - said that the commune had issued a notice warning people to be vigilant about information about crocodiles appearing in a section of the local canal.
“According to reports from local residents, around 8am this morning, a crocodile was seen swimming across the Bang Lang River, Kenh Dung Hamlet, Tan Ninh Commune, Tan Thanh District. The crocodile then disappeared,” said Mr. Doan Van Liet.
According to information from a resident in Kenh Dung hamlet, Tan Ninh commune, Tan Thanh district, the crocodile is about 1.5m long and weighs about 30kg - 40kg.
In response to this report, the commune sent forces to inspect and search the area where the people reported the crocodiles but they have not been seen yet. However, according to the verification of the commune People's Committee, about 10 days ago, there was also information that someone saw a crocodile in a canal section about 3-4 km from the location reported by the people this morning.
Currently, it is not possible to confirm whether there are crocodiles or not, but based on information from the people, during the day, the People's Committee of Tan Ninh commune issued a notice to all people to be vigilant, take precautions, and not let children swim in the river.
