On February 18, Kien Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai had a working session with Phu Quoc International Airport.
According to the representative of Phu Quoc International Airport, Vietnam Airports Corporation has approved the policy of implementing expansion and upgrade projects at Phu Quoc International Airport.
Accordingly, projects will be implemented including: Construction of VIP Guest House, expansion of aircraft parking lot, construction of T2 passenger terminal, construction of runway No. 2 and synchronous taxiways.
Every day, Phu Quoc International Airport serves more than 100 flights to and from. These flights come from Taiwan (China), South Korea, China, Kazakhstan, Poland, Mongolia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, on a regular basis or by charter.
Kien Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai requested to review and carefully study the airport planning plan, in the context of Phu Quoc developing strongly in tourism and economy; at the same time, request the Provincial People's Committee to coordinate with consulting units to carefully study the Phu Quoc International Airport planning plan, determine the development trend of Phu Quoc in the coming time. Calculate international trends, the world economy, the development potential of Kien Giang and Phu Quoc in the national package to propose the most convincing and appropriate planning plan.
In 2027, the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) will be held in Phu Quoc City. This is both an honor, a task, and a responsibility; the trust of the Party, State, and people nationwide in Kien Giang and Phu Quoc.
