On March 7, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Member of the National Election Council, Head of the Sub-committee for Ensuring Security, Order, and Social Safety of the National Election Council, and a working delegation came to work with the An Giang Provincial Election Committee to inspect and supervise the work of ensuring security, order, and social safety in the election of National Assembly deputies of the XVI term and People's Council deputies at all levels, term 2026 - 2031 in the province.
According to the An Giang Provincial Election Commission, the Provincial Election Commission has organized the thorough dissemination and serious implementation of the Central Government's guiding documents, focusing on Directive No. 46-CT/TW of the Politburo, Directive No. 28/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister, and documents of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense on leadership and organization of the election.
An Giang Provincial Police have closely coordinated with localities to identify 2,712 voting areas. Up to now, the review work has been completed with more than 3.6 million voters throughout the province. The process of consultation and introduction of personnel to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term has been carried out in accordance with regulations; no negative public opinion has arisen.
100% of officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces have been thoroughly grasped of their tasks, maintained combat readiness, and regularly practiced plans to handle arising situations.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong acknowledged and highly appreciated the election organization preparation work of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Election Commission of An Giang province; and at the same time requested An Giang province to continue to strictly implement the directions of the Central Government, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of National Defense on ensuring security, order, and social safety so that the election takes place successfully.
The province focuses on implementing well the spirit of "Party elects, people elect", promoting propaganda to let voters know and choose to elect people with sufficient virtue and talent, with the right composition and structure to participate as National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly noted that, in the face of the special characteristics of An Giang being a sea and island area with more than 3,600 fishing vessels regularly fishing offshore with thousands of fishermen participating, the province should study the option of using border guard checkpoints as "mobile ballot boxes" to create favorable conditions and ensure citizen rights for fishermen even when on duty at sea. For the elderly and weak people, who have difficulty traveling, election teams must have plans to bring ballot boxes to their homes for voters to vote.
Regarding the work of ensuring security and order, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested functional forces to thoroughly practice response plans according to the motto "clear people, clear tasks, clear time"; promote the work of grasping the situation, resolving complaints, preventing and combating anti-election activities, ensuring absolute security and safety for the election in the province.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly noted that it is necessary to focus on organizing and arranging voting areas scientifically and reasonably; organizing consulting tables and guiding voters; arranging convenient and easy entrances and exits for voters, not allowing congestion to occur during peak hours.
