In the Phước Trường 1 neighborhood (Sơn Trà district), numerous vacant plots of land are overgrown with weeds, littered with trash and construction waste, affecting the urban aesthetic and surrounding environment.
To address this issue, local residents and members of the Veterans Association in the neighborhood have proposed the idea of utilizing these plots of land to create models of green vegetables, contributing to the development of a beautiful urban neighborhood.
Upon seeing the vacant plot of land that was not being used, Mr. Cao Duy Khảm, a local resident in the Phước Trường 1 neighborhood, requested permission from the landowner to plant trees and transform the plot into a green vegetable garden from 2018 to the present.
"I and my fellow comrades in the Veterans Association of the area have worked together to collect weeds, improve the vacant land, and plant various types of vegetables. This not only contributes to making the neighborhood green and clean, but also allows us to share clean vegetables with everyone," Mr. Khảm shared.
Living in Sơn Trà district, Mr. Đinh Văn Hùng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phước Tường 1 Ward, Phước Mỹ Commune, highly appreciates this spirit of the local residents. Mr. Hùng believes that this activity should be expanded to contribute to making the neighborhood green and prevent pollution from abandoned vacant land.
The "urban vegetable garden" model in Thanh Khê Tây Ward (Thanh Khê district) has been implemented since 2021 to the present.
Located on Yên Khê 1 Street, this plot of land was once a vacant and neglected area and a hot spot for environmental pollution.
After being assigned by the People's Committee of the ward to manage and improve the land, the Farmers' Association of the ward planted flowers, ornamental plants, and clean vegetables to help association members develop their economy for 10 households.
In addition, some households in the city of Đà Nẵng have also utilized vacant land, obtained permission from the landowner and local authorities, and planted clean vegetables for sale in the market, creating a source of income for local residents and a fund for community activities.
