Transportation by public transport
Gasoline and oil prices continuously fluctuate and tend to increase recently, clearly affecting the living costs of many families. For those who regularly use gasoline motorbikes to go to work, pick up and drop off children, or serve daily travel needs, every time gasoline prices increase, it leads to greater spending pressure.
In that context, many people have started to change their travel habits, switching from gasoline cars to electric cars to save costs and reduce dependence on traditional fuels.
Ngo Van Dung - a second-year student at a university in Thanh Liet ward (Hanoi) is one of those who has switched from riding a motorbike to using an electric train to travel every day. Previously, Dung often used a motorbike to go to school and work part-time, having to refuel twice a week. When gasoline prices increase, travel costs also increase, causing a student who is still heavily dependent on family money like Dung to reconsider.
After being invited by friends to experience the Cat Linh - Ha Dong subway, Dung realized that taking the subway is quite convenient. The subway runs on time, without worrying about traffic jams, and can take advantage of the time on the subway to read materials or rest.
“Initially, I thought taking the tram would be inconvenient, but after getting used to it, I found it quite convenient. If there are more tram lines later, I will probably still continue to choose this means of transportation to travel,” Dung said.
Previously, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam (Liem Tuyen ward, Ninh Binh) often used a gasoline motorbike to serve most of the family's travel needs. Every day, she takes her children to school, then takes advantage of going to the market to buy food for the family. When she is free, she also often uses the car to visit relatives or take her children to play around the living area. After considering, Ms. Tam decided to switch to using electric vehicles for daily commuting.
The distance I travel every day is mainly around the house area, taking my children to school, then going to the market or going to work nearby. Electric cars run very smoothly, easy to control. Instead of having to stop by gas stations often, she only needs to charge the battery at home. Charging time can also be done in the evening when not using the car, so it is quite convenient" - Ms. Tam said.
Not only Ms. Tam, many people in urban areas and residential areas are now also starting to pay more attention to electric motorbikes. When gasoline and oil prices fluctuate, switching to electric vehicles is considered a solution to help reduce operating costs in the long term. In addition, the trend of using environmentally friendly vehicles is also increasingly being encouraged.
Consider using electric cars, hybrid cars, using biofuels
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, gasoline and oil are strategic commodities, but the supply is limited. In the context of the US-Iran conflict destabilizing the global energy market, each saved liter of gasoline is a practical contribution to national energy security.
For people, the Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that people limit the use of personal vehicles: when unnecessary; prioritize carpooling, use public transport or bicycles for short distances. Periodically maintain vehicles, check tires at the right pressure, replace engine oil on time, turn off engines when parked for a long time to help reduce 10-15% of fuel consumption. Driving saves fuel, maintains stable speed, avoids sudden acceleration and deceleration, and limits unnecessary high speeding.
In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also recommends that people consider using electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles or vehicles using E5/E10 biofuels according to the roadmap from June 1, 2026.
