That was the first time I directly saved a 3-year-old girl from a fire while performing rescue duties, said Sergeant Nguyen Cong Hoang Kha (21 years old, living in Thu Duc City) - working at the Consulting Team, Thu Duc City Police Department of Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of Ho Chi Minh City Police.

On the afternoon of March 16, a fire broke out at a 5-storey hotel on Hoang Huu Nam Street (Long Thanh My Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City). Fire police forces under the Ho Chi Minh City Police were dispatched to the scene to provide rescue, quickly put out the fire and rescue the victims. In which, a couple with two young children were stuck on the rooftop and the couple was stuck on the 4th floor.
After the incident, the online community spread the image of a firefighter with a dirty face carrying a baby out of the fire, making many people admire him. That is Sergeant Nguyen Cong Hoang Kha.

According to Sergeant Kha, at around 2:53 p.m. on March 16, he and his 35 teammates quickly arrived at the scene. At the fire site inside the hotel, thick black smoke billowed up accompanied by toxic gas, making access difficult. "At that time, my teammates and I rushed inside, searching every room to save people," Sergeant Kha recalled.
He broke the door to search for the victim, knocking on the doors of rooms from the 1st to the 3rd floors with no one. After running up to the 4th floor, Sergeant Kha saw the couple trapped in the room, so he received them and guided them down to safety.
He continued to run up to the top floor of the hotel and discovered that his family of 4 included 2 couples and 2 young children (3 years and 2 years old).
"I saw my husband and two children trembling and scared. The 3-year-old girl kept hugging her mother tightly and crying," he said.
After asking for the commander's opinion, Sergeant Kha decided to bring the 3-year-old girl down first. "At that time, there was too much smoke, if the whole family was taken down at the same time, it would be very dangerous," he explained.

tightly holding the girl's heart, Sergeant Kha men took the stairs, gradually walking down cautiously. "At that time, I just thought about how to get her out safely. She was very scared, kept crying, and clung to me. I tried to pat her back and reassure her," he emotionally recounted.
When he reached safety, Sergeant Kha breathed a sigh of relief: "The feeling at that time was hard to describe. Both happy and emotional... When I saw the girl safe in the arms of a relative, I wanted to cry."
This was the first time Sergeant Kha directly saved a person in a fire: "I have been in the Fire Police for more than 2 years, but this is the most meaningful moment. It motivates me to continue to stick with this job, dedicating myself to the safety of the people"...
After efforts, the fire police force successfully rescued 6 people from the fire.
Lieutenant Colonel Dao Hong Khanh - Deputy Captain of the Thu Duc City Provincial Group Consulting Team under PC07 Department - said that at the unit, Sergeant Kha is the one who always tries hard and strives to achieve many good results. The efforts of Sergeant Kha were recognized by the collective, Party committees, and command committees, and the greatest recognition was being introduced and admitted to the Party.
