There is a high risk of landslides
For mountainous terrain like Lam Dong province in general and Da Lat city in particular, landslides during the rainy season are always at risk and greatly affect people's safety. On July 24, prolonged heavy rain caused Prenn Pass to collapse. In particular, soil and rocks from the slopes spilled onto the road surface. Being here shows that this area is adjacent to the pass leading to Residential Group 18, Ward 3. The positive slope is about 20m long and 10m high.
Previously, after only the first two rains of the season in March and April, Prenn Pass also suffered landslides. The landslide occurred at a location with a cliff more than ten meters high next to the road. On many sections of the Prenn Pass route, the jagged rock surface lies precariously and could roll down at any time. Many places also have almost vertical cliffs. Above are hundreds of large pine trees standing on the edge of a cliff, waiting to fall at any time.
Frequently driving through the Prenn Pass route, Mr. Tran Van Giang (resident of Ward 3, Da Lat City) said that throughout the Prenn Pass, many locations are eroded at different levels, posing potential risks. loss of traffic safety, especially during the long rainy and stormy season.
"Every day when I drive to work through this route, I feel afraid that rocks and soil will fall onto the road, threatening the safety of road users. In many parts of the road, the cliffs are high and the rocks and soil look like they could fly. Going down at any time makes me extremely uneasy" - Mr. Giang said.
Through a survey, the Department of Transport of Lam Dong province determined that on the Prenn Pass route, there are a number of locations where walls and embankments have not yet been built. In addition, these locations have soil and rock geology that is not monolithic, heterogeneous, and discrete. Therefore, in these locations, it is easy for landslides to occur when water is absorbed due to prolonged heavy rain.
Proactive handling
Regarding this issue, the leaders of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province have directed the Department of Transport of Lam Dong province; People's Committees of districts and cities direct affiliated agencies and road management units to strengthen inspection and patrol of key roads, weak bridges, mountain pass sections, high slope areas... potential There is a high risk of landslides.
Especially important and arterial roads in the province such as Bao Loc pass, Prenn pass, Mimosa pass, National Highways 27, 27C, 28, 28B; Provincial roads and district roads to promptly warn and inform people and tourists to proactively prevent and choose appropriate directions of travel.
