On February 24, leaders of Binh An Commune People's Committee (Gia Lai) said that functional forces had initial verification results of the discovery of 2 bodies and a car under the Van Phong canal, passing through Phu Lac village (Binh An commune).
According to initial information, at about 7:30 am on the same day, people visiting the fields discovered a male body floating on the canal surface along with a car with license plate 51F-708. 22, so they reported it to functional agencies.

Recognizing that there may be other victims, functional forces coordinated with the Van Phong canal system operator to temporarily stop water supply to organize searches. After that, the second body was discovered near the location where the car crashed.
At the scene, a signpost along the canal was broken, the edge of the concrete railing showed a crack, which is believed to be the point where the vehicle lost control and plunged into the canal. The car has now been lifted ashore to serve the examination and investigation of the cause.
Through initial verification, the car departed from Hoai An at 10 pm on February 20 (ie, the 4th day of Tet), intending to move to An Khe area to wish Tet to relatives. When arriving at the above road section, due to unfamiliar terrain, an accident occurred when entering a sharp curve.
The 2 victims were identified as Chau Van B (born 2001, residing in KBang commune, Gia Lai) and Trinh Thi Ngoc H (born 1995, residing in Kong Yang commune, Gia Lai).
Leaders of Binh An Commune People's Committee said that they have directed the Commune Police to protect the scene, ensure security and order; report to the Provincial Police to organize an examination according to regulations. At the same time, coordinate to salvage the vehicle and contact the families of the victims to handle the incident.
