On September 10, the leader of Binh Tri Thien Railway Joint Stock Company said that after the train derailment incidents when passing through Lang Co station (Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue), Vietnam Railway Corporation organized an inspection, analysis, and assessment of the cause.
The inspection showed that the quality of the bridge and road was in accordance with technical standards. The reason for the train derailment was that the carriage had air springs, and when passing over a large-diameter track (Tg 0.15), it would resonate with many unfavorable factors (of the bogie type with a large wheelbase of 2,200mm).
The train passes at low speed, the time the guiding force increases is prolonged, causing the guide wheel to grip the rail and cause derailment.
The leader of Binh Tri Thien Railway Joint Stock Company said that to ensure train safety in the coming time through the above location, the unit proposed not to operate trains, and to move passenger trains with air spring cars (with large wheel axle distance) through the turning direction of Tg 0.15 turntable (N10 turntable at Lang Co station). At the same time, arrange capital to repair and replace Tg 0.15 turntables.
As Lao Dong reported, recently there have been two consecutive train derailments near Lang Co station. At around 3:17 p.m. on August 31, the SE2 passenger train running on the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route, while slowing down to Lang Co station, a carriage derailed. The incident did not cause any human casualties, but traffic was interrupted for a short period of time while waiting for repairs.
Previously, at around 2:00 p.m. on July 28, train SE11, engine 976, pulling 12 carriages on the way from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, when moving in the above area, 2 carriages 11725 and 31591, located in positions 10 and 11 in the train, derailed, both of these carriages had 4 axles derailed.
In addition, on August 7, passenger train SE2 running on the Saigon - Hanoi route, when reaching km 720+950 in the Cau Hai - Truoi section in Phu Loc district, car A 31490 had a derailment incident at shafts 1 and 2.
