On the morning of August 8, in an interview with Lao Động newspaper reporter, the leader of Bình Trị Thiên Railway Joint Stock Company announced that the issue with the train derailed from the track has been resolved, and the railway has been reopened around 20h40 on August 7.
According to the leader of Bình Trị Thiên Railway Joint Stock Company, the cause of the incident is currently being investigated by competent authorities, who are collecting information and data on factors such as the track, carriages, locomotives, etc. A professional committee will then analyze and evaluate the data to draw a final conclusion.
“This issue involves multiple fields and specialized departments within the railway industry. At present, we are cooperating with specialized departments to investigate the scene and take the next steps urgently. Within one week to ten days, once the professional committee has reached a final conclusion, we will provide specific information to the press” - the leader of Bình Trị Thiên Railway Joint Stock Company said.
As Lao Động has reported, around 16h30 on August 7, train SE2 was traveling in a north-south direction when it encountered an issue at the location of Bắc Sơn hamlet (Lộc Điền Commune, Phú Lộc District, Thừa Thiên Huế Province), causing one carriage to derailed from the track. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
It is worth noting that this is the second time in less than a month that a train has derailed while passing through Thừa Thiên Huế Province. Recently, on July 28, train SE11 was traveling from Lăng Cô Station (Thừa Thiên Huế Province) to Đà Nẵng Station when it was involved in an accident, with the train tipping over and leaning at Lăng Cô Station while preparing to cross a mountain pass.
At 14h04 on July 28, the train arrived at Lăng Cô Station to avoid train SSE4, and after passing a certain point (N10), two carriages (11725 and 31591) derailed and came to a stop at positions 10 and 11 in the train convoy.
Carriage 11725 derailed on four axles and leaned 45 degrees to the left in the direction of the train's travel; carriage 31591 derailed on four axles, and a blockade was issued for the Lăng Cô - Hải Vân Bắc area at 14h23.
The incident did not result in any casualties but caused a disruption to the railway system on Hải Vân Pass.
