According to initial information, at about 9:55 pm on September 18, at Van Quan station on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line, an incident related to a male student committing self-harm occurred.
Discovering the incident, passengers and station staff quickly approached, supported, gave first aid and contacted functional forces via numbers 113, 115. The male student was then taken by station staff to Ha Dong General Hospital for emergency treatment, and informed his family.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Hanoi Railway Company Limited (Hanoi Metro) said that the male student is currently awake and is being continuously monitored and cared for by doctors and family at the hospital.
Hanoi Metro said that this is a rare and unwanted incident and hopes that the male student will recover soon and stabilize his psychology.
In the coming time, Hanoi Metro will continue to review and strengthen measures to ensure security, order, and safety at stations; coordinate with functional forces to proactively prevent and handle unusual situations.
