On August 5, the People's Council of Phu Quoc Special Zone (An Giang) term I 2021-2026 held its second session, regular session in mid-2025.
Speaking at the opening of the session, Ms. Dang Thi Hong Gam - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Phu Quoc Special Zone - emphasized that in the context of the new apparatus that has just come into operation and is in the process of being completed, many arising issues require innovation in thinking and flexibility in management and supervision.
Under the leadership of the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Special Zone and the drastic and synchronous participation of the entire political system, all levels and sectors; the special-zone government has been gradually organized and operated smoothly and stably. Resolving administrative procedures for people according to the new process, creating high consensus in society.
At the session, the People's Council of the special zone considered and gave opinions on 6 draft Resolutions, 3 reports and 5 programs in 4 groups in July 2025 and the last months of 2025. Specifically, reviewing and evaluating the implementation of socio-economic development tasks; Reviewing work reports of the Standing Committee, People's Council Committees, and People's Committees of the special zones. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the special zone informs about the activities of the Front participating in building the government. Consider draft Resolutions of the People's Council, Submissions of the People's Committee of the special zone; consider explanations, questions and answers; approve Resolutions of the People's Council.
The delegates expressed their agreement and high consensus on the content presented at the Session, and also gave opinions related to security and order, environmental sanitation, health, education, etc.
The delegate recommended speeding up the issuance of first-time land use certificates to people, there are cases where taxes have been paid but have not yet been issued. The previously pending documents have instructions on how to better implement when currently implementing the two-level local government model, especially issues related to land disputes and land managed by the state.
In addition, the situation of grazing cattle still occurs, affecting the beauty of the local aesthetics. The delegate also raised the issue of the need for strict sanctions for acts of deliberately polluting the environment. Residential areas cannot drill wells, delegates recommended draining clean water for people.
For residential areas with high traffic volume and vehicles, it is recommended to install a traffic light system to ensure safety. Increase dredging of rivers and streams, beware of flooding during the rainy season...
At the session, Mr. Tran Minh Khoa, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone, directly answered and answered the questions of the delegates. At the same time, Mr. Khoa also directed the specialized Departments and Committees according to their assigned functions and tasks to solve the work flexibly, accurately and effectively, creating high consensus and unity among the people.
