Ho Chi Minh City Police have just sent an open letter to businesses and road transport businesses in the city to strengthen measures to ensure traffic safety and limit accidents caused by blind spots of vehicles.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Police, from mid-March 2025 to now, the city has recorded 396 traffic accidents, killing 227 people and injuring 167 people. Although the situation was basically stable and there were no long-term congestion, the accident was still complicated, causing great damage to people's lives and property.
Notably, incidents related to trucks, passenger cars, and tractors often leave particularly serious consequences. The main cause is that motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles fall into blind spots, drivers do not have time to observe or are subjective when changing direction, overtaking, entering residential areas, schools.
To overcome this, Ho Chi Minh City Police recommends that transportation businesses organize propaganda and training for drivers on skills to observe and prevent blind spots; equip against- reflection mirrors, warning devices on vehicles and install them at wharves, warehouses, and entry and exit points.
Units also need to regularly check surveillance support equipment such as rearview mirrors and rear-view cameras to ensure good performance; require drivers not to use phones while driving; develop regulations and sanctions to handle drivers who violate and closely coordinate with authorities when there are inspections and checks.
