According to Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV): Currently, the main bidding packages of the Long Thanh airport project phase 1 are ensuring progress. In particular, package 5.10 - construction and installation of passenger terminal equipment started on August 31, 2023, currently 20 days ahead of schedule for the rough part and ahead of overall schedule of package 10. days compared to contract progress.
This is a large-scale item with high technical nature, the construction progress determines the overall progress critical path of the entire project. Therefore, ACV has urged and requested contractors to gather equipment and materials to execute construction items. To date, the contractor has mobilized nearly 2,400 personnel and more than 1,500 pieces of equipment and machinery for construction.
For package 4.6, including runway items; aircraft apron; apron for ground service vehicles, ACV is determined to direct construction units to complete and technically exploit the runway before April 30, 2025, 3 months ahead of schedule in the contract.
As for package 6.12 to build a connecting traffic system (lines T1, T2), construction of line T1 is expected to be completed in November 2025; Construction of intersection T1 and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau highway will be completed in August 2025; Construction of intersection T2 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway will be completed in October 2025; Complete the project, hand over and put into use in December 2025.
On September 2, 2026, the first commercial flight will be operated
According to ACV, there is currently a situation where many contractors are facing difficulties due to scarcity of materials. On the other hand, the weather in the dry season is cyclone and hot, and the rainy season is heavy and continuous, affecting construction.
To overcome these difficulties, ACV has asked construction contractors to seek additional alternative material sources to promptly meet the committed schedule, place orders, gather and reserve construction materials in advance. ACV also committed to instructing contractors to focus all construction resources in the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", "eat quickly, sleep quickly" to construct "3 shifts of 4 crews".
