In Truong Ninh commune (Quang Tri province), these days the rice harvesting atmosphere is very urgent. Mr. Truong Ngoc Quy - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee - said that people are taking advantage of the favorable weather to mobilize human resources and rice harvesters to bring them home safely before the storm. To date, there are only a few hectares of rice left.
Mr. Truong Van Le - Director of Minh Trung Cooperative, Truong Ninh Commune - informed that this year's Summer-Autumn crop, the unit planted 120 hectares, with an average yield of 60 quintals/ha. Although some areas are still unripe, people are still urgently harvesting to avoid the storm in time. Mechanizing with a combined harvester helps farmers shorten time and quickly transport rice home.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri, the whole province currently has nearly 1,350 hectares of unharvested rice. The agricultural sector has directed localities to mobilize human resources and harvesting means both day and night, prioritizing ripe rice areas over 80%.
Mr. Bui Phuoc Trang - Head of the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection - said that in addition to rice, the industry also guides farmers to harvest short-term crops such as corn, cassava, and potatoes early; at the same time, prune branches and reinforce perennial trees to limit damage.
The agricultural sector requires localities to speed up progress, mobilize maximum human and material resources to ensure minimizing damage caused by storms - Mr. Trang emphasized.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the next 2 days, storm No. 10 will continue to strengthen to level 12-13, gusting to level 16, moving very quickly towards the sea and mainland areas of the North Central and Northern regions of our country, the closer to the coast of our country, the stronger the storm will be.
Due to the influence of the storm, in the sea area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai from the evening of September 27, the wind will gradually increase to level 6-7, then increase to level 8-9, near the storm center level 10-13, gust level 16, waves 5-7m high, and rough seas.
