At around 8:30 p.m. on November 10, the water level of Ba Thon canal, the section passing through An Phu Dong ward, Ho Chi Minh City, suddenly rose, causing water to overflow into many houses along TL37 road. In just a few minutes, the water was almost half the wheel of a motorbike, and some households could not move their belongings and were flooded into their houses.

As soon as the news was received, the functional forces of An Phu Dong ward quickly arrived at the scene, coordinated with the people to temporarily build embankments, and supported the arrangement of equipment and moving items out of the flooded area. By 9:30 p.m. the same day, the water level was still high but the situation was basically controlled.

A resident here said: "I was eating rice when I saw water starting to overflow just above the road, less than 10 minutes later it was flooded up to the doorstep.I have never seen this before.Luckily, a few militia members arrived in time to help build sandbags and move things, otherwise it would be all wet.
Earlier, on the same day, An Phu Dong ward sent a notice to neighborhoods saying that Dau Tieng lake was discharging water, and at the same time, Ba Thon culvert opened the valve to the field to handle the collapse of the left bank of the culvert. Therefore, the authorities warned of the risk of water levels rising to about 1.5m, and at the same time asked people in neighborhoods to proactively raise their belongings and items and limit travel near the sewer area to ensure the safety of people and property.
