After many days of heavy rain, the hillside in Pac Nghe village (Cho Ra commune) suddenly collapsed, sweeping away soil, rocks, trees and construction materials that threatened people's lives.
A giant block of rock and soil from the positive slope overflowed into the section of Km30+400 of Provincial Road 258, estimated at about 30,000m3, collapsing and cracking the walls of many houses located near the foot of the hill.
On November 10, information from the People's Committee of Cho Ra commune said that 5 households suffered heavy damage, including Mr. Duong Dang Van, Ma Thi Hue, Nong Thi Huan, Hoang Van Phat and Duong Dang Tu, a total of 19 people. In particular, Mr. Duong Dang Tu's house is being built from capital to support the demolition of temporary and new houses in the completion stage.

Households have been supported by the police, militia and local people to urgently evacuate people and property to safe places, and landslide areas have been isolated and warned.
Mr. Trieu Anh Chu - Chairman of Cho Ra Commune People's Committee - said that the initial cause was determined to be the impact of prolonged storms, high terrain of positive slopes, and ease of landslides.
According to the Chairman of Cho Ra Commune People's Committee, if landslides continue, rocks and soil may overflow onto Provincial Road 258, which can cause traffic congestion and local isolation, and the handling will be very expensive and time-consuming.

In addition to the 5 households directly affected, 3 households on the opposite side including La Duong Khoan, La Duong Thai and La Duong Vinh households are also in the area at high risk if landslides continue to occur.
The local government has requested the Department of Natural Disaster Prevention and Water Resources of Thai Nguyen province to advise competent authorities to assess the level of impact, determine the volume of landslides to soon have a handling plan. At the same time, it is recommended to consider arranging resettlement areas for affected households, helping to stabilize their lives and ensure long-term safety after natural disasters.
Landslides are a common phenomenon in the northern communes of Thai Nguyen during the storm season, posing a potential risk to residential areas and transport infrastructure.

Previously, on October 9, Cho Ra commune had to relocate 3 households in Na Mo village, Km31+980 also on Provincial Road 258, due to landslides from the positive slope. Not only threatening residential areas, landslides also pose a potential risk of affecting traffic infrastructure, causing unsafety on many mountainous roads.
According to statistics, the northern communes of Thai Nguyen currently record about 1,000 points at high risk of landslides, many of which are located close to residential areas and important traffic routes.
