Chu River flooded Ban Ma bridge

Thanh Hoa - Heavy rain and the release of floodwater from Cua Dat hydroelectric reservoir caused the Chu River to rise, flooding the suspension bridge of Ma village.

On September 23, the People's Committee of Thuong Xuan district said that due to prolonged heavy rain, upstream water pouring in along with the flood discharge of Cua Dat irrigation and hydropower reservoir caused the water level of Chu river to rise very high.

In particular, the suspension bridge area of Ma village was flooded at both ends, temporarily isolating the entire Ma village with 50 households.

“Currently, the water flow into Cua Dat Lake is equivalent to the flood discharge. In general, the current water level is still not equal to the flood peak in 2017, so basically Ban Ma bridge is still safe,” said a representative of Thuong Xuan District People's Committee.

According to the representative of the People's Committee of Thuong Xuan district, the rising water level of the Chu River has also caused some areas in communes such as Ngoc Phung, Xuan Duong, Xuan Cao, and Tho Thanh to be flooded and isolated.

Currently, the authorities are urgently implementing response measures to ensure safety for people and property.
