On July 13, Phong Nha - Ke Bang Tourism Center (Quang Tri province) announced that the unit had issued a notice to temporarily stop receiving tourists for some days in Suoi Mooc due to rising and cloudy water of the Son River.
According to local people, the cloudy water often occurs during the time of a minor flood but will quickly dissipate after a few days. However, this year, the phenomenon has been unusually prolonged, causing a clear change in the landscape.
Normally, tourists take a boat from Son River wharf to follow the water to Phong Nha Cave. But recently, due to the high water, the boat could not move deep inside, forcing them to stop at the wharf, and passengers had to walk into the hold.
It is known that due to prolonged heavy rain, water from high mountains overflowed, sweeping away soil and silt, and blending into the river.
