On August 11, the Department of Animal Husbandry and cultivation of Ba Ria - Vung Tau (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City) said that in the area of 30 wards, communes and special zones (formerly in Ba Ria Vung Tau), 2 new outbreaks of African swine fever were detected.
These two outbreaks appeared in Xuan Son and Long Hai communes, showing signs of suspected disease on August 4 and 6. Immediately afterwards, the veterinary force coordinated with the locality to take samples for testing. Results from the Central Veterinary Diagnosis and Testing Center II determined that both samples were positive for African swine fever virus.
The authorities have destroyed all pigs that tested positive for African cholera. Of which, Mr. N.V.N's household (Xuan Son commune) destroyed the entire herd of 31 pigs; and Mr. P.V.T's household (Long Hai commune) destroyed 7/8 pigs in the herd.
Since the end of July 2025, a total of 4 outbreaks of African swine fever have occurred in the area in 30 communes, wards, and special zones; and 108 pigs with a total weight of 5,113 kg have been destroyed.
In the face of the above situation, the Department of Animal Husbandry and cultivation of Ba Ria - Vung Tau has directed local Livestock, cultivation and Agricultural Extension Stations to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes with African swine fever to synchronously deploy response measures: hygiene, disinfection of barns, distribution of disease prevention and technical guidance to people. Especially when the development of African swine fever will be more complicated, when the weather rains and is erratic, there is an opportunity for the epidemic to break out strongly.
At the same time, it is required that livestock owners strictly prohibit transportation, sale or receipt of new flocks during the period of disease monitoring; strictly monitor the epidemic situation in neighboring areas; strengthen control of illegal transportation and slaughter of pigs, strictly handle acts of dumping dead pigs that pollute the environment (if any).
