Glorious tradition
The ceremony to celebrate the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces of the Department of Major Crimes held at the beginning of July once again showed the State's recognition of the unit's achievements in fighting and cracking down on crime, bringing peace to the people.
Lieutenant General Tran Ngoc Ha - Director of the Criminal Police Department said that this is the first unit of the department to be awarded the noble title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State; it is a source of pride not only for the Department of Major Crimes but also a common honor for the entire Criminal Police force.
Previously, during the period of making outstanding achievements, the Department of Major Crimes was honored to be recognized and awarded many noble awards by the Party and State: 3 years leading the emulation movement "For National Security", 2 years 2023, 2024 awarded the Government's Emulation Flag. The unit collective has received 1 First-class Military Exploit Medal, 5 Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Public Security, 1 Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of National Defense, 3 Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee, 6 Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Public Security, 36 Decisions on bonuses from the Ministry of Public Security, 1 Certificate of Merit from the Provincial Police.
In recent years, inheriting and promoting the precious tradition of the unit, the Party Committee collective, leaders and officers and soldiers (CBCS) of the Department of Major Crimes have upheld the spirit of solidarity, bravery, resourcefulness and courage to dismantle a series of dangerous criminal lines and gangs, which have been highly appreciated by the people and levels and sectors.
The nemesis of dangerous, transnational crime
Typically, in mid-February 2023, the Department of Major Crimes guided and coordinated with the Tien Giang Provincial Police (old) to summon 133 subjects who were leaders and employees, searched Phap Viet Law Company Limited and seized many computers and documents serving threatening, terrorizing, and debt collection activities to extort property.
The ringleaders directed 20 group leaders and 579 employees of 20 groups to use many debt collection tricks to threaten and intimidate the spirit of 172,629 borrowers, extorting more than 456 billion VND, and units signed service contracts to pay fees of more than 168 billion VND. Currently, more than 100 related subjects in the case have been tried with sentences ranging from 1 year to 19 years.
The Department of Major Crimes is also a pioneering, shocking, and leading force in the fight and crackdown on criminal gangs taking advantage of foreign territories to commit crimes against social order. Typically, project 214S cracked down on an organized, transnational criminal gang operating illegally trading and storing military weapons led by Pham Duc Binh (alias "Binh Kiem"). This is a typical project on preventing particularly serious criminal acts. "Binh Kiem" is a notorious gangster from the Nam Cam era, with many previous convictions and criminal records, once leading a particularly dangerous criminal gang.
In recent years, the unit has also chaired and regularly advised the Government and the Ministry of Public Security to issue many strategic documents, which are milestones in the work of preventing and combating organized crime and transnational crime.
In the near future, the Department of Major Crimes is expected to continue to add to the tradition of the force in terms of achievements with being honored at the Vinh Quang Viet Nam Program. Colonel Duong Nguyen Chinh - Head of the Department of Major Crimes, Criminal Police Department - shared that being nominated for honor in this phase is a great honor and pride for the Department of Major Crimes in particular and for the criminal police force in general.
This is the motivation for us to continue to sacrifice and strive for the peace of the people and the peace of the Fatherland" - Colonel Chinh shared.
